I bought this kit for my 2003 G35 coupe, and installed the Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD In-Dash Double-DIN DVD Multimedia AV Receiver. I originally was going to buy the JDM kit, however, I spoke with a Crutchfield associate who informed me that I would need the brackets that are provided by the Metra kit (which the JDM kit I was looking at did not include). First off let me say that the additional brackets that are included were not used in my installation.
To elaborate on the Pros: The color of the Metra kit was pretty much identical to the factory dash kit. I was pleasantly surprised by this. Also, the head unit I purchased fit right in with the kit, however, the small plastic lining piece around the screen requires a little bit of tweeking to get it to fit perfectly. And there really are no other options if you want a double din unit for the G35 coupes. I broke down and bought htis after my radio and cd player started to fade out sporadically.
For the cons: The unit once installed actually did not fit well. My A/C vents closest to the dash now move more stiffly. Additionally, the top compartment (where the stock Navi would have gone) makes a noise and gets stuck against a plastic piece within the Metra unit. It does not stop me from opening and closing the compartment, but it is a bit of a nuisance - nothing that is a dealbreaker though.
My main deterrent initially was the way the metra buttons for the A/C controls look. I do not like that they could not make the buttons look more factory-like, but for the price compared to the JDM kit I guess it is a minimal gripe. After the kit was installed, I did not mind it that much since I was so pleased with my head unit. The lighting of the buttons is not 100% perfect, as the "A/C" button on my unit has a faded light for some reason. Again, not a huge deal, but it is still a bit of a gripe I had.
All in all I was happy with the unit's look, but it could have been better in my opinion. Unfortunately, there really are no other options unless you are willing to spend $300+ for the JDM kit now. The option you could do is also buy the JDM a/c controls separately, but as of 9/12/10, they are kind of hard to find.
To complete the installation of an aftermarket head unit, you need to buy this kit along with your head unit, as well as Metra 40-NI10 Nissan Antnna Adapter and Metra 70-7550 Radio Wiring Harness For Nissan 95-Up Power 4 Speaker. I would actually recommend buying the head unit from Crutchfield if you need to replace the dash kit, as they throw in the antenna and harness for free, and sell you the dash kit for 50% off (at least for the G35 coupe). I purchased all of these things separately, and I ended up only saying about $20. This is assuming you go the cheaper route and don't buy the JDM dash kit.

The metra kit along with the purchase of the harness and antenna adapter and an after market radio(non factory radio) i.e. pioneer, kenwood, sony etc. fixed the problem i have had in my 2003 g35 sedan for months. The problem; cd error, unable to control A/C or radio only able to be controled through steering wheel control. well after 3 months of conrtoling it through the steering wheel and luckily having my AC stuck on 75 degrees( perfect temp) it finally stop working. after months of research on the internet replacing the stereo with the kit seemed to be the only solution. after infinity failed to recognize the countless probless for many 03 g35 drivers including myself. they just blew me off. but yeah i got my stereo back and a/c for about 650 dollars inculding instalation from best buy. i bought the pioneer 3100 dvd for $300 from amazon as well. simply because you can customize the led light from the radio to match the interior of my G. but you can put any radio in it to bring down the price about 200 but yeah i liked the double din look and same led colors. other than that i would have have put a 150 dollar radio just to fix the problem. but the product itself OK qaulity at best. the buttons are pretty gay but nothing beats having control over your car again

This kit fit perfect in my Infiniti G-35 , now have a Pioneer U310BT Nav head unit , only minus is A/C buttons are gray and dont match the factory , only person who notice is another infiniti owner but it does the job !!
