My less expensive blanket conked out after less than two winters, so I decided to splurge on one that I thought would likely last longer. The Serta is incredibly comfortable, soft and warm even when not turned on. It doesn't seem like it will pill like my previous blanket. However, it does not get near as warm and really only heats in the center of the blanket (mine is a twin). We haven't gotten very cold yet in Tennessee, but I have had the blanket set on high and I can already tell it won't hold up to January and February in an old house.
The first blanket I received was faulty and the customer service at both the manufacturer and Amazon was fantastic. I will certainly keep this one (the replacement), though I think I'll also get one of the cheaper ones that pills and gets nice and hot for our cold months. The fabric really is wonderful and soft, and the inner lining that houses the wiring is insulating, and it's much more attractive than your typical electric blanket.

This blanket was a bit expensive but - now that I have it, I feel it is a really good investment, and I sleep better because of the warmth provided. The cables inside the blanket can't be felt, it feels like it has a interlining betwen the layers instead of cables. The blanket heats well (heat adjusts from 1-10) - I preheat at about setting 5 about then I turn it down to 2 before going to sleep. Each side has independent controls. I would recommend this product because it is high quality product. The cables plug into the foot and the cable lines are plenty long enough to set the controls on the night table. The sage is more like a brownish army uniform color more than a greenish sage color. THe item arrived quickly and was well packaged and boxed for shipment. The instructions says it can be washed. A+ product.
