Honestly I was concerned about this pillow after reading some of the reviews, but it was a great purchase nonetheless. I purchased these pillows to go with a new memory foam mattress I also ordered from Amazon. A reviewer had mentioned that standard pillows could be a little too tall with a memory foam mattress, so I didn't want to take any chances. I had also read that memory foam gets hot, and I cannot stand a hot pillow under my head, which is why I chose the sleep innovations cool contour memory foam pillow.

My pillows arrived well ahead of our mattress, so I figured I would try it out with our old bed, just to see if I would like it. First I'll comment on the pillow itself, then relate my experiences using it.

The pillow comes in a nice cloth cover that adequately covers the foam. There is an inner layer of what appears to be standard foam covered by a memory foam layer that is much softer and more pliable if that is the proper term. Overall there is sufficient give to the pillow, which is balanced by the proper amount of support. I've read people complain that this pillow is hard, and I while I can understand their comments, I believe they are looking a this the wrong way. Most pillows are filled with air, and some sort of padding material. This is solid padding, but because it is memory foam it gently absorbs your head, and cradles it ever so lightly. It's a hard sensation to describe, but I find it superior to filled pillows.

My first night with the pillow was nice but not perfect. On my first use, I had the thicker end of the pillow towards the head board. While I found this to be very comfortable upon falling asleep, I woke with a stiff neck. I was rather disappointed to wake in this condition, but wanted to give it an honest try. The next night I positioned the pillow so that the thicker portion was under my neck. It was amazing. At first my head felt strange as if it was leaning backwards, but within a few minutes, I realized just how natural this position is. I was able to switch from sleeping on my back to either side with no discomfort at all. Sleeping on my side was probably the best experience. My ears did not get warm at all, and the pillow help my head in a very comfortable position.

After the arrival of our memory foam mattress, I've continued to use this pillow as my only pillow. In the past I've required 2 or more pillows to find a sufficiently comfortable position.

This pillow may not be for everyone, but for me it is the best pillow I've slept on.

I have used Craftsman, Ryobi, DeWalt and Makita from 7-18 volts. Makita has again produced a tough, handy design.
But somehow the Amazon product description slipped on the features. Makita specs for the BDF451 show NO hammer on this drill. Unlike the drill, the lithium packs are warranted for only 1 year. Standard issue.
Compared to my old 18 volt DeWalt XRP hammerdrill/driver (which is not balanced and won't stand on its battery) this drill does not pump my forearm like Popeye's after about half an hour.
I wish I could say it outperforms the DeWalt in every way. I expected more torque. Spoiled, I guess.
But, the lithium ion charges last about 1.5 times longer than the 18v nicad in my experience.(XRP was usefull to 3/4 hour of #10 deck fasteners) I dig the lithium charging: you can pull it off before the "45 minute" full charge, without lobotomizing your battery. Also cool: The packs HOLD charge phenominally well; so I can rely on ready stand-by. Ace in the hole.
Bottom line: Light and handy. Short of gasoline fired, you wont find better charge storage, but I find the BDF451 kind of spendy for middling torque. $279.00 shipped.

Over the years i have used nearly every brand of cordless tool imaginable. There has always been advantages and disadvantages to each. Not with the Makita LXT line though. I own the Drill/Driver and the impact driver and each is everything advertised. They are lighter than other 18v models. They are tough, the battery charge lasts at least twice as long as any I have ever used and four times longer than the craftsman I upgraded from. If you can swallow the price, buy this tool it is worth every penny.

We've come a long way from sweat and a screwdriver. A hundred years ago, builders would never have envisioned a tool as powerful and efficient as this one. Heck, even 20 years ago. Science has ushered battery technology along, and the LXT lithium-ion system that powers this impact driver has a ton of advantages over standard NiMH or NiCad batteries. The lithium-ion technology means 1,400 battery life cycles, longer run time, lighter weight, a great reduction in the self-discharge rate and built-in shock-absorbing features to protect your battery.

But perhaps the coolest innovation is what Makita calls its 45-minute optimum charger. It actually talks to the batteries it charges throughout the cycle, using a built-in memory chip in the battery and, believe it or not, a CPU chip in the charger itself, which analyzes the data stored in the battery chip to decide on the best charging method at that time.

The drill/driver itself is fairly compact and lightweight, weighing in at less than 5 pounds, yet it's packing a powerful 560 in./lbs. of torque. It's got a super speed range of 0 to 300 rpm in low gear, 0 to 600 in mid-range and 0 to 1,700 rpm in top gear. Sometimes, you may encounter a little resistance if you're switching directly from low gear to high; if that happens, running the tool in mid-gear for a couple seconds completely alleviates any snag.

Makita's always made ergonomically positive tools that feel good in your hand and take the strain off your body, and this one's no exception. The slightly curved grip is so comfortable, and the auxiliary handle gives you supreme control. I'm returning this Honeywell humidifier after checking out and purchasing the Kenmore 12-gallon humidifier at Sears. The Honeywell is not bad, but the Kenmore model is better in some important areas.

Honeywell Pros:

* Does the job and has high enough output to have a shot at humidifying even a fairly large house.

* Reasonably quiet on low setting.

* Can run 24 hours on low setting between refills.

* Attractive design (for what its worth)

* Seems well made / high quality materials (if you can count plastic as high quality)

* Easy to take apart for cleaning, filter changes and so on.


Honewell Cons:

* Does not accurately measure room humidity while running. When the humidifier is operating, it reads an artificially high humidity level. So, you have to second guess where it should be set to reach your desired humidity level. When it is not running, the reading is more accurate.

* Better than some others, but still difficult to fill. The water containers will not rest on a flat surface while you are filling them or screwing on the cap. This makes filling a bit of a wrestling act. In case you've forgotten, water is heavy. I'd guess that each of the containers holds over 1.5 gallons, putting the full weight at over 12 pounds - not something you really want to be fumbling with.

* Gurgles frequently when operating as water tanks drain into base. This is not nearly as loud and noticeable as another model I tried, but still something to keep in mind especially if you will be using it in a quiet area like a bedroom.

* Blows air out rather than up. This is not a huge problem, but it does limit where you can place the humidifier. Also, the air coming out can be cool so you don't want to put it where it will be blowing on your bare feet in winter time.

* The "ionizer" light on the top is a bright blue that can really light up a dark room. It can be turned off. Also, I'm not clear on what - if anything - this feature actually does. The instructions don't say much about it. Kind of seems like a gimmick.


So, why do I like the Kenmore model better?

* Much easier to fill. The container rests flat while you fill from a standard kitchen sink and screw on the cap.

* The Kenmore's "whisper" setting is quieter than the Honeywell's "low".

* Blows air up rather than out. This makes placement more flexible and doesn't give you a chill as you walk by.

* Holds 4 gallons of water as opposed to the Honeywell's 3.5. Makes for a longer time between fills.

So, to sum up, this Honeywell model works and is not bad. But it does have some weak points, especially when it comes to filling it up. So far I haven't found anything to criticize about the Kenmore 12 gallon. So, I'd recommend skipping the Honeywell and paying $10 more for the Kenmore at Sears.

If you decide to try the Kenmore, don't assume your local Sears doesn't stock it. Even though the Sears web site did not allow store pick-up for the Kenmore humidifier, my local store had several on the shelf. They also had replacement filters in stock at the store.

A tedious chore that comes with owning a humidifier is REFILLING THE WATER TANK. It's almost as bad as taking out the garbage. If you agree, then this humidifier was made for you.

People keep complaining that this product is not sturdy and the 3 components (2 water tanks plus main unit)are prone to tipping over. Well, of course if you bump into it often it will! But most of us keep humidifiers in a static place. But the 2 easily removable tanks are made so that us lightweights can lift and fill them in your sink without grunting and strain. Ever try filling a large water tank (which has to be filled in a tub), and then carrying it back, slippery and dangerous? I've had 2 Air-o-Swiss units that were a nightmare to fill and carry, it was a pain and once i even dropped the water tank on my foot - ouch. These 2 smaller tanks make life so much easier, as i refill this every night (i power it on high). The humidistat is accurate (unlike Air-O-Swiss Tower which BROKE on me, and by the way, don't let the name fool you---the Air-O-Swiss is made in Korea, not Switzerland. The rolling casters also make for ease of space, movement, and vacuuming(unlike heavy air-o-swiss). I do wish it was warm mist instead of cool mist, but it still humidifies my small studio apartment in nyc better than my previous 2 units. It's not perfect, but...

I am finally happy with this humidifier as it
1) actually works, and
2) makes my life easier.

Isn't that what we're all looking for in a humidifier?

I have had this machine for a month and it is a great humidifier. It does what it claims. It humidifies a large area including the living room, dining room, kitchen, sun room, and 2 bedrooms. The tanks are easy to fill and only need to be refilled about every 2 days on a 30-35% humidity setting. Any higher and my windows develop frost since it has been below zero at night for the past 3 weeks. I will up it to about 40% when this cold spell finally relents. The digital humidistat is nice. It tells you the current humidity and easily allows you to alter it. The original filter is still pretty clean and there are no mineral deposits or mold around the base yet. I think the Protec cleaning cartridge really helps in this regard. It is a fairly compact system for the capacity and output and it blends in well with the house decor.
The fan is a little loud on high but I think that's to be expected for the wide coverage. I lower it to medium when watching TV. It is easily movable with the casters but you have to push on the base and not on the tanks or motor. The air output is cold but this is a cool air humidifier so again that is to be expected.
Overall this is a great value - a good operating humidifier with good coverage and little maintenance at a low price. Best of all, the skin on my fingers isn't cracking and my sinuses are more comfortable.

Hands down, the best product of its type. In less than a minute, I can prepare enough froth for two servings or more of cappuccino. The instructions are simple. Working with cold milk apparently works better, but it works just fine for me hot. Start at the bottom, careful not to hit the sides of your pitcher, then as it starts to froth, work your way up so the tip is just below the surface of the milk. I also tend to alternate the depth a bit to make sure I get an even froth. You'll end up with a tight, dense froth that will hold for quite a long time.

I received my Bodum Schiuma milk frother two weeks ago, and I LOVE it! I had previously purchased an Aerolatte frother which broke during my second attempt to use it. Bodum is scores better than the other brands. I have never had one bad experience with a Bodum product. The milk froths very well, but sucks the life out of regular AA batteries. Rechargeable batteries are definitely the way to go. I couple this bad boy with a Bialetti Brikka pot and have very impressive cappuccinos everywhere and anywhere! Now I never leave home without it. I only wish it had a travel case.

This toaster is great. As with all new things there is a learning curve but once you've learned it your good to go.
Some complain about the bell being too loud. I know I'm not going to stand next to the toaster and wait for it to finish so the bell for me is great. I hear a bing and I know its done. Easy. Others complain about having to put their bagels down twice. Appartenly they don't have the learning curve down yet. Just in case they don't know there are settings on this toaster!
I would recomend this toast to everyone. Some might say its expensive but hey, it works great and looks just as great.

I consider good toast one of life's simple, but deeply satisfying, joys. Whether a chewy bagel spread with cream cheese or a slice of whole wheat topped with mayo, sliced tomatoes, and lemon-pepper, I am often happier eating good toast in my own kitchen than the overhyped but mediocre concoctions of mainstream suburban eateries (and even some supposedly amazing high-end restaurants that disappoint).

After several years of limping along with an old and cheaply made toaster picked up in a thrift store (an appliance which seemed to be losing the ability to properly time the end of the toasting cycle between "barely warm" and "burned"), I began shopping seriously for a proper toaster to prepare one of my favorite daily staples.

When I was a kid, my parents had what I think was a Sunbeam toaster with a single long slot. It was designed to sit along the back edge of a kitchen counter or table, with its controls on the long edge. But what I remembered most about the toaster, and didn't realize the rarity of until I had my own home, was how technologically advanced it was for the early 1970s. Namely, it dispensed with the push-to-drop-the-toast lever for a single pushbutton in the center of a degree-of-toasting control knob. Press the button, and the toast quietly lowered into the toasting chamber, and elegantly rose without an annoying "clunk" when the toast was done.

I waited many years for some small-appliance manufacturer to rediscover and revive this cool toaster feature, and was delighted to find an Australian maker, Breville, which had done so, in coordination with an electronic count-down display that visually indicates how much of the toasting cycle remains. I almost bought the Breville, but decided against it at the last minute due to what I felt was its boxy styling.

Soon thereafter, I was browsing the site of a big-box electronics retailer, known for its big yellow tag logo, and discovered that KitchenAid had a toaster with similar features and superior styling. Being a long-time fan of the KitchenAid brand, but deterred by their existing commodity-grade toaster products, I immediately headed over to Amazon where I found the same model in stock. (Please be aware that there's a similar-looking model with the electronic display but a normal up/down toaster handle rather than the motorized up/down control of this model.) I ordered immediately and received it only days later. What I found:

Pros: Attractive styling; wide slots; accurate centering of toast; reliable operation; ultra-cool auto-lower and auto-lift feature; controls for defrost, bagel (toasts just one side), warm (holds toast in toasting chamber for additional minute without over-toasting it), and reheat; digital toasting "shade" control ("1-7") and remaining-length-of-toast-cycle progress bar on display; loud triple-beep alert when toast is done; a one-year warranty with a KitchenAid customer service number you can call for possible repair/replacement issues

Cons: No way to disable beeping or control its loudness (a no-brainer feature, and electronically trivial to add); stainless steel portion of appliance casing is (like all stainless steel) easy to smudge and hard to clean; unevenness of toasting side to side (the sides of bread in each slot facing the center of the toaster get a bit darker than the sides of bread facing the outer edges of the toaster, even when bagel button is not engaged--I may have to call KitchenAid about this)

One more thing that's not necessarily a pro or a con--just something to be aware of: The existence of a clear transparent ring around each of the four small buttons on the display (like "Defrost") might give some buyers (like me) the impression that they light up when pressed. In reality, only the main button really has a meaningful glow around its perimeter, a pleasing blue color that appears whenever toasting is actually occurring. There is a little "spillover" of this light, behind the control panel, to the rings around the other buttons, but the "engaged" status of the other buttons is actually indicated by an appropriate word on the digital display.

Overall, I would consider this the ultimate toaster if the "cons" listed above were fixed. As it is, I'll say it's pretty good and step up from the ancient piece-of-crud toaster I was using before.

Don't go for this good looking toaster if you mind loud noises! It has the most annoying beep when you first press the button and then three ear piercing beeps when finished. So much noise in the house when others are still asleep is just not worth the hassle even if its a KitchenAid model. What could the engineers have been thinking? I am returning this back to Macys after two weeks and will buy a normal toaster which does not shatter the peace of my mornings with these loud sounds.

I don't need a jolting beep to tell me when I have started my toaster and three more to tell me my toast is done. It would be much better if they had a button to tune these sounds off. Until then, you should tune out this KitchenAid toaster.

I used this with a 6" globe even though it said it was for 8-12" (it would work with them, too). It fit great. It is much sturdier than I expected and is a very good buy for the money. The picture shows it with the a globe sitting in it (you can just see the lower part of it), which I mention just to clarify that it is not part of the stand. In short, it's versatile, well-made, and inexpensive.
