It's a basic computer that meets my needs but ever since I got it it "whirs", "creaks", "buzzes" and at times sounds like an old-time coffee percolator. Honestly, though it has functioned fine so far, I'm just waiting for it to fall apart. Way too many strange sounds that my old computer did not make.

I'm the type of person who becomes completely paralyzed by choices and options... the two worst times are when buying toothpaste and when buying a computer. I hate it... I'll compare what ingredients and attributes a toothpaste has for 30 minutes... and it's worse with computers.
I bought this for a recently deceased computer, and I seriously unboxed it and plugged it in and started working on my network at work. Nothing else had to be done.
My only suggestion: stop making computers with giant hard drives and start shipping computers with small 128GB SSDs... an SSD is just a solid state drive, using memory instead of moving parts, and it's super, super fast. These days I don't store anything at all on my hard drive - I'm too worried about damage from power spikes, lightning, spilled coffee, theft, etc., etc. I store everything online in the cloud - all my pics are on picasa, my docs are on google docs, my music is on amazon cloud drive and google music at the same time. I never, ever want a locally stored file again... so stop giving me giant hard drives!
